Domovyk (the house spirit)

Domovyk is a kind house spirit. He lives in rural houses, under a stove or in the roof space. He protects the family inhabiting the house from bad people, unkind spirits and evil creatures. According to ancient beliefs, a guardian spirit appeared in the house as soon as it was built. As a rule, Domovyk was invisible or visible only to the owners of the house or those people who treated him well. There are some beliefs that righteous and sinless people, children and pets can see Domovyk. According to other beliefs, he is very fond of sweets, so you need to keep a plate of sweets in the wardrobe to appease him.
