In March 2024, an epic fantasy inspired by Ukrainian mythology, titled “Kyi and the Frosty Horde,” is set to hit the shelves.

This marks the debut of a series that delves into a fantastical world populated by mythical and fairy creatures. The novel aims to craft the archetype of a national fantasy hero tailored for the younger audience.

Nick Lysytsky, the book’s author, shared insights into the genesis and inspiration behind the new universe:

“The fantastical realm where the novel unfolds has existed for centuries. It’s an extraordinary and enchanting domain steeped in Ukrainian myths and legends. Once, people could easily traverse into it, and mythical heroes coexisted freely in our reality. However, as the years passed, this connection was lost. Now, one can only catch glimpses of those times by flipping through the pages of old books and wandering the forest paths of the Carpathians. So, this book is more of an attempt to reconnect with and rediscover that ancient world rather than creating a brand new one.”

In “Kyi and the Frosty Horde,” the narrative follows a young man named Kyi, leading a carefree life on the outskirts of Kalynove village. However, his world is disrupted when an unprecedented event occurs – winter refuses to give way to spring. Alongside his companion Chuhayster, Kiy embarks on a perilous journey to unravel the mystery behind the delayed spring. Their quest involves bravely overcoming obstacles, facing off against the formidable Frosty Horde, and ultimately saving the world.

The book “Kyi and the Frosty Horde” is a collaborative effort between the Magical World and the company “Fantastic Ukrainians,” known for its innovative projects.

From February 21 to February 29, the book can be pre-ordered with a 50% discount on the project’s website https://kyibook.com/.
